« Imaginative and committed soprano with ravishing high notes » — La Libre Belgique, Florie Valiquette has established herself as one of the most notable Canadian voices of her generation.

She holds a master’s degree in classical vocal performance from the Université de Montréal and continues her vocal training with Marlena Malas in New York.

Since the beginning of her career, Florie Valiquette has cultivated a keen artistic curiosity. In 2010, she made a notable debut in musical theatre playing Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music, a production nominated in the "Performer – Show of the Year" category at the 2011 ADISQ Gala, and has also collaborated on several occasions with Cirque Éloize for corporate events, as well as with the Ecole nationale de Cirque for the Hänsel und Gretel production marking the 30th anniversary of the Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier lyrique.

She has distinguished herself in several international competitions, including the Queen Sonja International, the Mirjam Helin International, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, the Tremplin International of the Canadian Music Competition, and the Prix d’Europe. Early in her career, she received support from the Jacqueline Desmarais Foundation for Young Canadian Opera Singers.

Between 2012 and 2015, she was a member of the Opéra de Montréal’s Atelier lyrique and was awarded the Mario Létourneau Award of Excellence at the end of her residency.

She performed the lead role of Milica at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in the critically acclaimed new production of Ana Sokolović’s Svadba-Mariage. This part which she subsequently reprised at the Angers-Nantes Opera, the Ljubljana Opera marked her debuts on the international stage.

Her career then took her to the Opernhaus Zürich, where she became an artist in residence at the International Opera Studio before joining the Ensemble. There, she notably performed the roles of Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, as well as Amour in the new production of Charpentier’s Médée conducted by William Christie, Fortuna and Damigella in L’Incoronazione di Poppea conducted by Ottavio Dantone and staged by Calixto Bieito. She has also performed at the Amsterdam Opera in Il matrimonio segreto and at the Verbier Festival in Carmen (as Frasquita) under the baton of Charles Dutoit.

As her career gains momentum, Florie Valiquette is taking on increasingly significant roles on major international stages. After making her debut as Sophie in Werther first at the Festival d’été de l’Opéra de Vichy and subsequently at the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse, the Opéra de Lyon, and the Opéra de Bordeaux, she created the title role of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Coraline at the Opéra de Lille, before appearing notably as Madeleine in Michel Fau’s new production of Le Postillon de Lonjumeau at the Opéra Comique and as Tytania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Opéra de Montpellier.

Recently, she has also been acclaimed for her performance in the part of Orasia in Telemann’s Orpheus under the direction of Francesco Corti at the Drottningholm Festival, for her debut in the part of Musetta in La Bohème in Luxembourg, at the Opéra de Reims, and at the Opéra de Dijon, as well as in the part of Marie in La Fille du régiment at the Opéra de Tours.
