Belgian tenor Pierre Derhet studied singing at the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie (IMEP) in Namur, before perfecting his skills in masterclasses with Christophe Rousset, Leonardo García Alarcón, Andrea Marcon and Marie-Nicole Lemieux. He is a laureate of the MMAcademy in 2016.

His early career was marked by Mozart roles: Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Ferrando (Così fan tutte) at the Mozartiades Festival in Brussels, then Ferrando again (Così fan tutte) at the Opéra de Nice. He also played Jean-Petit Bleu (Folon), Spoletta (Tosca) and Gastone (La Traviata) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, A Spirit (Dido and Aeneas) with Christophe Rousset, and A Priest / A Man of arms (Die Zauberflöte) at the Opéra de Lille, Coqsigru (Le Retour d'Ulysse by Hervé) with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, The Barber / The Padre (L'Homme de la Mancha) in La Monnaie and at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Un Hérault d'armes (Robert le diable) and Palomides (Le Silence des ombres by B. Attahir) in La Monnaie, Azincourt (Fortunio) at the Opéra-Comique and Piquillo (La Périchole) at the Opéra Grand Avignon.

More recently, he played Bob Boles in Peter Grimes at the Opéra d'Avignon, Le Prince in Trois Contes by G. Pesson and David Lescot at the Opéra de Rennes, Laërte in Hamlet at the Opéra-Comique and at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Mercure in Platée at Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, the title role in Richard Coeur de lion and Saint-Phar in La Caravane du Caire at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, Cossé in Les Huguenots in La Monnaie, the title role in Fortunio and The Prince in L'Amour des trois oranges at the Opéra National de Lorraine, Le Brésilien / Gontran / Frick in La Vie parisienne at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, at the Opéra de Limoges and at the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie, Lucio / Gondoliere in Rossini's Otello and l'Abbé de Chazeuil in Adriana Lecouvreur at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Prince Quipasseparla in Le Voyage dans la lune at the Opéra de Massy (a role he recorded for Bru Zane Label) and Pomponnet in La Fille de Madame Angot at the Opéra-Comique.

Concert appearances include Britten's Les Illuminations and Mozart's Requiem with the Orchestre National de Cannes, Falvetti's Il Diluvio universale with Cappella Mediterranea at the Théâtre de Caen and Ô mon bel inconnu with the Münchner Rundfunk Orchester.

Among his recent and future projetcs, let’s mention Bardolfo (Falstaff), Remendado (Carmen) and Piquillo (La Périchole) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, the title role of Fortunio at the Opéra de Lausanne, Le Chevalier de la Force (Dialogues des Carmélites) at the Opéra National de Lorraine, L'Amant jaloux in Montreal.
