Belgian tenor Pierre Derhet studied singing at the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie (IMEP) in Namur, before perfecting his skills in masterclasses with Christophe Rousset, Leonardo García Alarcón, Andrea Marcon and Marie-Nicole Lemieux. He is a laureate of the MMAcademy in 2016.

His early career was marked by Mozart roles: Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Ferrando (Così fan tutte) at the Mozartiades Festival in Brussels, then Ferrando again (Così fan tutte) at the Opéra de Nice. He also played Jean-Petit Bleu (Folon), Spoletta (Tosca) and Gastone (La Traviata) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, A Spirit (Dido and Aeneas) with Christophe Rousset, and A Priest / A Man of arms (Die Zauberflöte) at the Opéra de Lille, Coqsigru (Le Retour d'Ulysse by Hervé) with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, The Barber / The Padre (L'Homme de la Mancha) in La Monnaie and at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Un Hérault d'armes (Robert le diable) and Palomides (Le Silence des ombres by B. Attahir) in La Monnaie, Azincourt (Fortunio) at the Opéra-Comique and Piquillo (La Périchole) at the Opéra Grand Avignon.

More recently, he played Bob Boles in Peter Grimes at the Opéra d'Avignon, Le Prince in Trois Contes by G. Pesson and David Lescot at the Opéra de Rennes, Laërte in Hamlet at the Opéra-Comique and at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Mercure in Platée at Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, the title role in Richard Coeur de lion and Saint-Phar in La Caravane du Caire at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, Cossé in Les Huguenots in La Monnaie, the title role in Fortunio at the Opéra National de Lorraine and at the Opéra de Lausanne, Le Prince in L'Amour des trois oranges and Le Chevalier de la Force in Dialogues des Carmélites at the Opéra National de Lorraine, Le Brésilien / Gontran / Frick in La Vie parisienne at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, at the Opéra de Limoges, at the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie and at the Opéra royal de Versailles, Lucio / Gondoliere in Rossini's Otello, the Abate di Chazeuil in Adriana Lecouvreur at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège and at the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse, Bardolfo in FalstaffRemendado in CarmenSchmidt in Werther and Piquillo in La Périchole at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Prince Quipasseparla in Le Voyage dans la lune at the Opéra de Massy (a role he recorded for Bru Zane Label), Pomponnet in La Fille de Madame Angot at the Opéra-Comique, the title part in Offenbach's Robinson Crusoé staged by Laurent Pelly in Angers, Nantes and Rennes

His discography includes the recent recordings of Le Voyage dans la Lune and La Vie parisienne for the Palazzetto Bru Zane and Il Concerto Caccini released by Ricercar with Scherzi Musicali.

Concert appearances include Britten's Les Illuminations, Mozart's Requiem, Bach Easter Oratorio with the Orchestre National de Cannes, Falvetti's Il Diluvio universale with Cappella Mediterranea at the Théâtre de Caen and Ô mon bel inconnu with the Münchner Rundfunk Orchester, Berlioz Roméo et Juliette with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, L’Amant jaloux by Grétry at the Salle Bourgie in Montréal with Arion Orchestre Baroque, Ravel's cantata Semiramis with the Orchestre symphonique de La Monnaie in Bozar.

Among his projects this season, let us mention , L’Heure espagnole (Gonzalve) and Turandot (Pang) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie – Liège, La Fille de Madame Angot (Pomponnet) at the Opéra de Lyon, La Caravane du Caire (Saint-Phar) at the Opéra royal de Versailles ; and in concert, an Ravel program for the MITO Settembre Musica festival in Milan, a Pohle program with the ensemble Clematis at the Namur Concert Hall, a Mendelssohn program with the Chœur de Chambre de Namur in Namur and Liège, « Musica regalis » at the festival d’Ambronay with Il Caravaggio, St Matthew Passion with the Orchestre de l’Opéra royal in Poissy and at the Opéra royal de Versailles, and in récital with the program « Songs of travel » in Liège, Lasne, Charleroi and Mons…
