Anaïk Morel was born in Lyon and studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with Françoise Pollet, winning her first prize in 2006.
She quickly became a key figure on the international opera scene following her highly acclaimed debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
Anaïk Morel is a versatile performer praised for her ability to convey her artistic talent through opera and song repertoire. Her stage repertoire includes Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Mère Marie de l'Incarnation in Dialogues des Carmélites, Ortrud in Lohengrin, the title role in Carmen,Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust, Charlotte in Werther, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, and world premiere roles in works by Toshio Hosokawa and Marc-André Dalbavie. Her concert appearances include Mahler's Symphony No. 3, Messiaen's Poèmes pour Mi, Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder, Chausson's Le Poème de l'amour et de la mer, Ravel's Schéhérazade, Berlioz's Les Nuits d'Été and Berg's Sieben Frühe Lieder.
Anaïk Morel has worked with directors such as Luc Bondy, Guy Cassiers, Michel Fau, Claus Guth, Barry Kosky, Vincent Huguet, Tatjana Gürbaca, Iannis Kokkos, Oliver Py, Pierre-Emmanuel Rousseau and Dmitri Tcherniakov.
She has sung with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal under Kent Nagano, the Orchestre National de Lyon, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Les Siècles, Insula Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Musique des Lumières, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and, on tour, with the Orchestre National de l'Ile de France, and under conductors such as Nicolas André, Daniel Barenboim, Sylvain Cambreling, Nicholas Carter, Paolo Carignani, Dan Ettinger, Mikko Franck, Alan Gilbert, Leo Hussain, Julia Jones, Kent Nagano, Hervé Niquet, Kazushi Ono, Kirill Petrenko, Vassili Petrenko , François-Xavier Roth, Sébastien Rouland, Marc Soustrot and Lorenzo Viotti.
Recent appearances include her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in Barrie Kosky's celebrated production of Carmen, her debut as Brangäne in Tristan und Isolde in Toulouse and her debuts at the Teatro alla Scala and the Berlin Staatsoper. She also made her debut as Charlotte in Werther at the Zurich Opernhaus, and as Der Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos at the Hamburg Staatsoper and the Capitole de Toulouse.
Her recent and future projects include Pénélope by Fauré in Athens, Cavalleria rusticana at the Opéra de Toulon, La Passagère at the Capitole de Toulouse and Le Roi d'Ys at the Opéra National du Rhin.
